Caught in the Act
We love positivity in this league! And we're giving you the opportunity to point it out for us.
Lincoln Girls Softball would love to hear about your experience so we can recognize players, coaches, fans, or even umpires who exemplify good sportsmanship.
Whenever you catch someone in some act of positivity, whether it be good sportsmanship, leadership, helping out or just being kind in general; we want to know about it. That's why we have a "Caught In The Act" page.
If you see an act of positivity just fill out the form on the page to let us know. We want to recognize and highlight all of the good in our league!
Field Condition Status FAQ
Q: Why are fields often closed if the sun is out and it’s not raining?
A: Field Conditions are assessed daily and if fields are too saturated from rain, it becomes a safety issue for the players. Field closure decisions are determined on the amount of rain we get. It can take SEVERAL days of sun and wind to dry them out (also playing on fields when they are saturated will worsen their condition). Ensuring player safety and preventing injury is our PRIORITY.
Q: Who determines the field closures?
A: The city of Lincoln determines closures of Lincoln Fields. The city controls all city parks (Foskett, Wilson Park, Joiner Park and associated grass fields). If the city closes them, we cannot use them or we will be liable for any injuries or field damages caused.
Q: Is there a time deadline for notice of field closures?
A: We are in contact with the city throughout the day if fields are questionable, however, we try to make every effort to announce field closures no later than 4pm the day of.
We try to wait and long as possible to see if we can get games in....we want the girls to play as much as possible!
